Part of our complete guide: All 45 Nice Classification Classes Explained

Hair clips, hairbands, scrunchies, and hair ties fall under Class 26, which covers lace, ribbons, buttons, hair accessories, artificial flowers, and other small trims and notions used in fashion.

Why this isn't grouped with clothing

It's an easy assumption that anything worn on the body belongs in Class 25, but Class 25 is reserved specifically for clothing, footwear, and headwear. Hair accessories, along with buttons, pins, and similar fashion notions, sit in Class 26 instead — a distinction that trips up accessory brands more often than most other class mix-ups.

Where fashion accessory brands often need multiple classes

A brand selling clothing, hair accessories, and jewellery under one name is operating across at least three classes: Class 25 for clothing, Class 26 for hair accessories, and Class 14 for jewellery. If the brand also runs its own retail stores or e-commerce site, Class 35 applies too, for the retail service itself.
