Part of our complete guide: All 45 Nice Classification Classes Explained
Pet food falls under Class 31, which covers foodstuffs and beverages for animals, alongside raw agricultural products more generally.
Why a full-range pet brand often needs three classes, not one
A pet care brand rarely sells only food. Collars, leashes, harnesses, and carrying bags fall under Class 18, the same class covering handbags and leather goods generally, since these products are treated as leather and fabric accessory goods regardless of the fact that they're made for animals rather than people. Pet toys fall under Class 28, alongside general toys and games. A brand selling food, accessories, and toys under one name is, for classification purposes, operating across all three classes at once.
Where pet brands often need a further class
A pet brand that also offers grooming, boarding, or veterinary services would need a services class — grooming and boarding typically fall under different classes again from the products themselves, worth checking individually rather than assuming one registration covers the whole business.
